Poll 3 demographics of breast cancer topic surfers
In December 2000, a poll appeared on the risk calculator, asking "What is your age and gender?" The results were.

It was initially suprising that over 50% of the breast cancer risk calculator's visitors are under 40 years of age. But on reflection, it makes sense since the majority of web surfers are in this age category. And 99% of the visitors are women.
Some poll respondents gave these extra comments and constructive criticism:
- Thank Very informative and applicable. Increases awareness of personal risk.
- Thank you for the information. I would like to see more info on how BCP may contribute to breast cancer.
- My father had breast cancer. How does this effect my risk?
- YAEASS
- I think that they should keep this on the internet, its the only one like it and I believe that it helps out alot.
- i'm really mad
- myths and misconceptions
As these last two comments show, the feedback received about the Risk Calculator isn't always 100% positive. In particular, some women who have already had a diagnosis of breast cancer, have experienced first-hand, that this disease commonly affects women with no recognizable risk factors. If you want to send some constructive feedback to me, please do.
Thank-you to everyone who responded to the poll.
Sincerely,
Steven B. Halls, MD
