These are pictures of the fish and corals in my salt water aquarium. First started adding live rock and a few fish in Oct 2008.

In mid-January 2009, I started saving pictures so that I could have a record of what they looked like, to allow future comparisons when they grow larger or get sick, or disappear.

Last update: 27-Dec-2009.

My tank has 2 sides.

Volume of tank is 300 gallons.

A very nice well-behaved fish, that's bigger than all my other wrasses, but never shows any hint of aggression. We love him. Expensive but beautiful.

Bangai Cardinal

2 cardinals are paired, and the 3rd cardinal (2nd picture) used to get chased and bullied.
but after a few months, he rejoined the school.

He hangs below a rock at night, and extends polyps into the light during the day.

Growing nicely. In early March it lost 1 of its legs. By the next molt in late March, the leg had fully grown back. Amazing.

This small stone crab still lives in this hole, many months after I first realized he is there. May 9, 2009.

Black Mithrax Crab.

 

He uses his jet-black front claws to scrape coraline coral off the rocks, and eat it. He moves very slowly while doing so. He tries to stay hidden as much as possible.

Another crab in a hole


In dec 2009, I saw the legs of this hitchhiker crab living in a hole. Amazing that he lived for a full year before I saw him.



Purple Coral Banded Shrimp


I've seen him twice in 6 months. He lives deep under my rocks. Last seen Jan 16, 2009.



 

other notes: Also there is one pistol shrimp in there.. never seen him yet. But I hear his clicking noise. Last heard late Nov 2009.

My tank volume is 316 US gallons, 1196.57 litres. includes tank, sump & tubings. Subtract something for rocks.

Things that have died in my aquarium. Equipment in my basement.
